Join industry experts as they explore creative design solutions that address the challenges and opportunities associated with diverse landscapes.  Whether you’re a home gardener interested in creating biodiverse habitats for your backyard or a landscape architect designing a public space for community gatherings, you’ll walk away with new and practical strategies.  Experts will share lessons learned from designing a range of landscapes from commercial and private residences to community engagement and public accessible projects.

Keynote speaker, Doug Tallamy, will talk about Designing for Diverse Habitats will help you make a compelling argument whether to your spouse or future client as to why we can no longer exempt our landscapes from creating functional ecosystems. Additional presentations by: Jack Sullivan, Sandra Youssef Clinton, and Noel Kingsbury.

The Piedmont Environmental Council is proud to be one of the conference organizers. A variety of break-out sessions appeal to new and experienced owners, as well as owners of small and large woodlots. Representatives from Virginia's natural resource agencies are also available to inform participants of the services available to them.

This all-day conference:
* is for owners of large or small tracts of land;
* is a one stop/first stop for individuals, families, and managers wanting to learn more about woods, wildlife, and other natural resources;
* provides multiple links to information, sources of assistance, and a better understanding of the natural resources around you;
* will explore a myriad of forestry and wildlife issues relevant to woodland owners.
