December 13th, 2018 8:00 AM – 11:00 AM
Location: The Clifton Institute, 6712 Blantyre Road, Warrenton, Virginia, United States
Category: Nature Walk

Novice and experienced birders will enjoy this guided 1-2 mile hike to look for the many species of birds that can be found at The Clifton Institute's field station. We will explore successional fields, meadows, lake edges, and forest. Note that this walk is on a Thursday instead of a Wednesday: this is so that any birds that we find can be counted toward our Christmas Bird Count the following Sunday.

Date and time subject to change based on weather.

This event is free and open to the public. To RSVP, please register online or email Bert Harris (bharris@cliftoninstitute.org).

Location: The Clifton Institute, 6712 Blantyre Road, Warrenton, Virginia, United States

Join our partners at The Clifton Institute for their annual Christmas Bird Count! We’ll spend the day surveying the birds in their 15-mile-diameter count circle. This is a great way to meet other birders in the area and to see what birds have migrated here for the winter.

This event is free and open to the public. Please contact Bert at bharris@cliftoninstitute.org if you are interested in participating. He will assign you to a team and each team will decide when and where to meet for the day. We’ll wrap up the count with a compilation potluck dinner at 5:30 at their headquarters.

Join Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy (LWC) as they participate in National Audubon Society’s annual Christmas Bird Count. Begun in 1899, these surveys are held all over North America, with the results used to better understand bird populations and dynamics. LWC's count circle has a 15-mile diameter and covers 177 square miles of Loudoun’s countryside: north to Waterford, south to Aldie, east to Ashburn, and west to Purcellville.

Everyone is welcome; amateurs are teamed with experienced birders. If you are interested in participating for just a couple hours or the entire day, sign up here or contact Joe Coleman at jcoleman@loudounwildlife.org or 540-554-2542.
