Come join the Virginia Breeding Bird Atlas - Appalachian Mountains Joint Venture who will be hosting a series of Atlas rallies in the most under-surveyed regions of the state. The goal of these events is to provide an opportunity for volunteers to travel to a lesser-known part of the Commonwealth, and to survey a number of priority blocks over the course of the weekend. In other words, to blockbust!  Atlas Coordinator, Dr. Ashley Peele, is partnering with regional coordinators, as well as Chief Rangers at four of VA’s State Parks to host these events.

Registration deadline for all events May 1st!

In this FREE two-part event, hear a fascinating talk from Dr. Ashley Kennedy (creator of the crowd-sourced project “What Do Birds Eat?” and protégé of the renowned author Doug Tallamy) as she discusses the findings of her work studying bird diets. Afterwards, enjoy a humorous and poignant documentary short "The Love Bugs" that explores a couple’s devotion to insects, science, and each other as they prepare to donate their life’s work to a museum.
